An idea thread represents a line of inquiry (a stream of conversation) to investigate a challenging problem or issue. To develop ideas in an idea thread, project members write notes, read one another’s notes, and build on. The notes and build-on responses are displayed in a two-dimension space organized based on time (x-axis) and contributor (y-axis).
Below you can find tutorials about:
Left click the “Write” button in the upper left corner. Type in a “title” for the note and select the scaffolds that are needed for the current note. After typing in all information, click “Contribute” to finish writing. The note will be shown under the thread right away.
Select a note, hover your mouse over the dot next to the title. Left-click the mouse. When the note opens, drag the bar to scroll down to read more content in the note. After finishing reading, click the cross button to close the note. The note has been read will show in red, unread notes will remain in blue.
3. How to highlight a sentence/sentences in a note?
Open a note, select the sentences (ideas/questions) to be highlighted, click the “Highlight” button on the bottom, select a category (reason) for the highlight, the sentence/sentences will be highlighted in the corresponding color. Close the note, the highlighted note will show a little bigger than other notes.
4. How to build-on other notes?
Open a note, click the “build-on” button, a new note will show up. Write a title, add new information what you want to build on, and click “Contribute” to post. A line will show the build on the relationship between two notes.
Click the “write” button to create a new note, add a title. And choose “Author(s)” in the note, Add an author’s name from the drop-down list, click “add” to finish. An author’s name will show up under the Author(s) list. You can also remove the author by clicking the “X” button. All authors’ name will show up in the right upper corner of the note. Click “contribute” to finish writing.
6. How to import a note from another thread?
Under a thread, click “import” button, you can choose from a time period, for example, from 2017 Oct to 2018 January. And you can choose a view/views where you want import notes from, and choose a project/projects where you want import notes from, type in a “keyword”, and whether the keyword is in “Anywhere” “note content” or “note title”. Click the “Search” button, all notes that are filtered will show in a list. Click the box in front of each note, and click the “add into thread” to finish importing. The selected note/notes will automatically show under the thread.
